A lot of things are out of our control lately. I know there are a lot of things to think about. When feeling sad, upset, worried, or overwhelmed try to focus on what you CAN DO instead. I posted a list to get started. It goes really well with our Integrity Time letter this week. X is for X-Ray. You can use your X-Ray powers to examine how you respond.

This week's Integrity Time letter is X for X-RAY! X-Rays are used by doctors to examine our bodies to see if something is wrong like a broken arm. You can examine your actions by thinking about how your behavior affects others. Is what you are doing respectful, nice, or helpful? If not, be willing to change. This will show you are growing in wisdom and becoming a better Kid of Integrity!
In honor of Mother's Day this Sunday, May 10th, I posted a fun craft below. If you are unable to go to the website to print it, design your own flower. List reasons why that person is special to you on each petal you make. You can celebrate anyone you would like. Have fun and be creative with the supplies you have at home. The website is: https://buff.ly/3aVCVXR Good Morning! Ms. Jenny Solomon, the counselor at DCE, made a virtual tour for our 2nd graders. We were going to take the students to tour there this spring. Ms. Solomon wants our students to still feel familiar with their new school. The tour was saved in PowerPoint. Please watch it on a device with PowerPoint downloaded on it. There are several images throughout the tour you may click on to enjoy the video. Talk to your second graders about their new school. Ride past DC Elementary and show them the outside of the school and point out the playground. Pick up a lunch with your child from DCE Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 10-12 and say hello to the cafeteria staff. Please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Solomon or me if you have any questions or concerns. Enjoy the tour!
https://tinyurl.com/dces3rdgradetour This week's Integrity Time letter is X which stands for X-RAY! X-rays are used by doctors to examine our bodies to see if something is wrong like a broken arm. In a similar way we an examine our words, our actions, and. our attitudes. We can ask ourselves, "Am I showing integrity when I do this?" If not, be willing to change yourself. This will show you are growing in wisdom and becoming a better Kid of Integrity!
Today begins Teacher Appreciation Week. Thank a teacher this week. Any small appreciation will make their day. I know teachers will love a video or photo from your child. A quick email with a word of thanks will mean so much to them this week. This week's Integrity Time letter is W for WILLING! To be willing to do something means that you decide or choose to do it. I hope this week that you have chosen to be a Kid of Integrity! Were you willing to choose what is true and good and right? If not, we all struggle. You are not alone. This change in routine can be very hard on your child. I know some students may still struggle with worries, anxiety, or anger. I have previously posted a Worry Warrior video series in the March 2020 archives. I will post more videos in this series starting next week. If you would like to start from the beginning, check out videos 1-5 in my earlier posts. Further, I have a page for you to check out that gives great details and information about setting up your own calm down corner at home. Take the time this weekend to set one up at your house! Click the link below for tons of information and ideas: www.counselorkeri.com/2020/04/18/calm-corner-at-home/ Also, a little feelings scavenger hunt posted below. This may lead to a great family discussion.
